Specifications

General information

Coat colour in dogs is controlled by a wide range of different genes working together. These genes are often referred to as ‘loci’. The Agouti, or A-Locus, corresponds to the gene ‘agouti signalling protein’ (ASIP), which controls the balance between yellow and black pigment in a dog’s coat. The A-Locus combination test looks for several different variants on this gene.
